Our data. Where it comes from, how it stays current.
Demand Lens sits inside a data consultancy, so data quality is the discipline the whole operation is built on - not an afterthought bolted onto a media business. The same build, verify and refresh method runs behind every practice we operate.
Opted-in, business-domain records. No consumer addresses, no scraped data
Verified for role, employer, deliverability and consent before it enters a campaign
Consent and provenance documented on every record, produced on request
Life Sciences and Public Sector live, with Legal, HR and Transport in build
Where the data comes from.
We own our data rather than resell someone else's list. It is built from five sources, and every record carries a consent and provenance trail.
Official registries
Companies House and its equivalents across the countries we cover, used to establish the account universe and keep company structures accurate.
Licensed data feeds
Commercial firmographic feeds used to enrich and corroborate account records rather than to supply finished contact lists.
Event and publisher partnerships
Long-standing relationships with B2B events, conferences and publishers in our sectors, where contacts opt in directly.
Our own content and campaigns
Every gated download, form fill and campaign response we run adds first-party, consented contact data with a documented audit trail.
Direct research and verification
Our data team verifies role, employer, deliverability and consent before a record enters a campaign, and re-checks it on a scheduled cycle.
Different industries, the same data standard.
Each practice has its own account universe, its own personas and its own way of being segmented. What stays constant is how the data is built and maintained.

What we hold, segment by segment.
We launch on a higher-quality core rather than the widest possible file. The figures below are the addressable universe we build against, expressed as planning ranges. Organisations can sit in more than one segment, so the segment rows are not additive and each table carries its own deduplicated total.

Sized against published sources including the Department for Education school register, NHS England trust counts, the GOV.UK organisation directory and the Regulator of Social Housing provider register. Contact depth targets 4 to 8 verified people per organisation, rising to 10 to 20 for large trusts, councils, departments and universities.

Benchmarked against ILAC, which reported more than 114,600 accredited laboratories globally in 2024, and FDA drug establishment registrations. Accreditation counts exclude internal, university, research and production-site laboratories, so the addressable universe of sites sits well above them.
How segments are classified
Small biopharma
Independent therapeutics or platform companies below an agreed employee or revenue threshold.
Biopharma, other
CROs, CDMOs, diagnostics, biologics services, specialist suppliers and larger biotechnology businesses.
Pharma
Branded, generic, API and finished-dose pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Analytical
Independent or in-house laboratories providing chemical, microbiological, physical or compliance testing.
Environmental
Water, soil, air, waste, emissions and environmental-monitoring laboratories.
Food and beverage
Manufacturer laboratories, commercial food-testing laboratories, breweries, dairies and ingredient-testing sites.
Materials science
Polymers, coatings, chemicals, metals, composites, batteries, semiconductors and advanced-material laboratories.
Every record supports more than one classification. A pharmaceutical manufacturing site may also hold analytical, environmental and materials laboratories, so it is counted once and tagged several times.
Build, profile, verify, refresh.
One repeatable cycle behind every practice, rather than a one-off list purchase. Roles and structures change constantly, so the data has to be maintained continuously.
Build
The account universe is built to your ICP, then mapped to real organisational structure. In life sciences that is parent, subsidiary and site. In the public sector it is tier, organisation and directorate.
Profile
Contacts are added against defined personas for the practice. Life sciences carries therapeutic focus, company stage and region. Public sector carries functional category, level and nation.
Verify
Every record is verified before it enters a campaign: role, employer, business email deliverability and consent status.
Refresh
Records are re-checked on a regular cycle and suppression, bounce and unsubscribe data is applied continuously.
How we source and validate data.
Two halves, kept separate on purpose: what we build and own, and what we validate with licensed third-party tools.
Built and owned in-house
- The core life-sciences account and contact dataset, built to ICP rather than bought as a finished list.
- Persona mapping across clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, commercial and executive functions.
- Verification, suppression and refresh cycles run by our own data operations team.
- Consent capture and provenance records held against every contact.
Validated and enriched with third-party tools
We use licensed third-party platforms to validate and enrich records. These are other companies' tools, not Demand Lens technology, and we name them so you can see exactly what sits behind the data.

- Apollo.io
- ZoomInfo
- Cognism
- Lusha
- Clearbit

We validate and enrich our own core dataset. We do not resell someone else's list.
Data Legends has processed and reconciled B2B contact databases at the scale of hundreds of thousands of contacts against HubSpot: deduplicating against existing records, validating replacement contacts and identifying net-new records. That data operations capability is what sits behind Demand Lens.
Opted-in, auditable, business-domain only.
Opted-in data
Contacts are opted in and business-domain only. No consumer addresses, no scraped records.
UK GDPR, GDPR and CASL aligned
Processing, consent capture and outreach are aligned to UK GDPR, EU GDPR and CASL requirements across our operating regions.
Full consent audit trail
Every record carries a consent and provenance trail that can be produced on request, which is what an information governance or compliance team will ask for.
Politically neutral
Nothing we produce takes a party, ideological or policy position. It matters for public bodies and it does no harm anywhere else.
Regular verification cycle
Records are re-verified on a scheduled cycle. Roles, titles and organisational structures change constantly in every sector we cover.
